Winter Fox
£2.50 Square card (14.5cm x 14.5cm)
A cold and snowy night conveyed in a collage of recycled paper. Scraps of newspaper make a perfect shadow for this fox out hunting on a moonlit night.
Spring at Court Lodge Farm
£2.50 Square card (14.5cm x 14.5cm) with a 10mm white border around image.
A collaged design made from cut and torn paper for Court Lodge Farm, a wildlife friendly, organic farm on the Pevensey Levels. Here a Painted Lady butterfly feeds on thistles while a Marsh Harrier hunts over the reedbeds. Friesian cows from the dairy herd enjoy the rich pasture.
Red Sussex Hens
£3.00 Rectangular card (14.5cm x 20.5cm)
The Sussex breed of hen comes in a variety of colours. Friends in the village kept and bred the Red Sussex and I spent a sunny October morning observing and drawing them for my woodcut. The old hen house on wheels had been carefully restored and looked perfect standing under the old Horse Chestnut tree.
Barn Owl at full moon, Court Lodge Farm
£2.50 Square card (14.5cm x 14.5cm) with a 10mm white border around image.
Celebrating the arrival of a pair of Barn Owls to a nest box put up by farming friends at Court Lodge Farm, this design was one of six linocuts used in a calendar highlighting some of the creatures on this wildlife friendly organic farm. The farm provides the perfect hunting habitat for these beautiful birds.
Over the Cuckmere
£2.50 Square card (14.5cm x 14.5cm) with a 10mm white border around the image.
My linocut of life along this much loved river. Canada geese are gathering, their noisy honking a real sound of Autumn. Hindover hill forms a dramatic backdrop where the chalk horse steps carefully on the steep slopes. It is a magnificent spot for a walk with the dogs.
On his patch
£3.00 Rectangular card (14.5cm x 20.5cm)
Every garden has a resident Blackbird and this one has claimed a vegetable patch as part of his territory. My linocut celebrates these delightful birds.
The mare’s tale
£2.50 Square card (14.5cm x 14.5cm).
My wood and lino cut of the speckled mare at home in the lush pastures near Belle Tout lighthouse. This is her landscape. She knows all the downland tracks and bridleways for miles around.
Autumn Hare, Court Lodge Farm
£2.50 Square card (14.5cm x 14.5cm) with a 10mm white border around image.
Along with the Barn Owl, my linocut of the Hare was made for a calendar highlighting some of the creatures living at Court Lodge Farm, a wildlife friendly organic farm on the Pevensey Levels in Sussex. This Hare enjoys the warmth of the autumn sun untroubled by the Friesians grazing nearby.
Fox
£2.50 Square card (14.5cm x 14.5cm) with a 10mm white border around the image.
This is my woodcut of the fox that creeps through our garden at dusk. A sudden noise or movement makes him freeze and stare before slipping away through the foliage.
Bittern skulking at Court Lodge Farm
£2.50 Square card (14.5cm x 14.5cm) with a 10mm white border around image.
This Bittern image is not a print but a collage made from coloured and painted paper cut and torn to shape. Another design for Court Lodge Farm where work is underway to create perfect reedbed habitat in the hope that these scarce birds will nest here one day.
Birds, berries and Belle Tout
£2.50 Square card (14.5cm x 14.5cm) with a 10mm white border around image.
From my linocut of Belle Tout lighthouse, a popular landmark standing high on the chalk cliffs near Eastbourne. The scrubby downland below is home to local bird life like these Goldfinches and provides a resting place for migrant birds newly arrived from the Continent. Birders often gather here too in the hope of spotting a rarity.
Bearded Tits in Patchurst Marsh Reeds, Court Lodge Farm
£2.50 Square card (14.5cm x 14.5cm) with a 5mm white border around image.
Another mixed media image, here a pair of Bearded Tits make their home in the reedbeds at Court Lodge Farm. The striking male has a very distinctive black ‘moustache’ rather than a beard.
The Emperor’s kingdom, Court Lodge Farm
£2.50 Square card (14.5cm x 14.5cm) with a 5mm white border around image.
The strikingly large and handsome Emperor dragonfly is at home on the water’s edge at Court Lodge Farm. There are plenty of ponds and ditches where the female can lay her eggs on floating pond weeds. These impressive insects can be seen on the wing during the summer months. Image created using a mix of collage with a bit of paint.
Fieldfares and winter berries, Court Lodge Farm
£2.50 Square card (14.5cm x 14.5cm) with a 10 mm white border around image.
These winter visitors feed on hedgerow berries at Court Lodge Farm in Wartling. The owners of this organic farm actively encourage wildlife of all kinds. Image taken from my original linocut .
Hedgehog hunting at Court Lodge Farm
£2.50 Square card (14.5cm x 14.5cm)
I have used a mix of collage with a bit painting to create this nocturnal scene. There is plenty of good foraging habitat and shelter for hedgehogs on this organic farm which is rich in invertebrates on which they can feed.
The Kingfisher’s perch, Court Lodge Farm
£2.50 Square card (14.5cm x 14.5cm) with a 5mm white border around image.
This flashy bird is watching for small fish from its waterside perch at Court Lodge Farm. I enjoyed cutting up brightly coloured papers to create this collaged scene.
Lapwings on Haven Field, Court Lodge Farm
£2.50 Square card (14.5cm x 14.5cm) with a 5 mm white border around image.
This image was created using collage and a bit of painting. It shows a pair of lapwings on marshy Haven Field at Court Lodge Farm. It is a delight to hear their ‘peewit’ calls on a walk over the farm land in Spring.
Moonlit Church, Jevington
£2.50 Square card (14.5cm x 14.5 cm)
This is from my linocut of our village church in wintery mood. The unusual weeping Wych Elm was planted to mark the end of the 1st World War.
Snipe below radar site, Court Lodge Farm
£2.50 Square card (14.5cm x 14.5cm) with a 10 mm white border around image.
Court Lodge Farm has plenty of good Snipe habitat as part of the farm land extends on to the Pevensey Marshes. This organic farm is a haven for wildlife. The strange building on the brow of the hill is an old cold war radar station now a private residence. Image taken from my original linocut.
A Celebration of Moths at Court Lodge Farm
£2.50 Square card (14.5 cm x 14.5 cm)
A mixed media image highlighting a few of the spectacular moths found at the farm over the years. Shown here against the backdrop of the farmhouse are a Privet Hawkmoth, Garden Tiger, Peach Blossom, Grey Dagger, Elephant Hawkmoth, Lime Hawkmoth and Merveille du Jour.
Heads up! Fox about at Court Lodge Farm
£2.50 Square card (14.5 cm x 14.5 cm)
My mixed media image was made after a very cold and wintery site visit to the farm. Greylag Geese are grazing on Pevensey Marsh and are alert to the presence of the fox passing by. In the background a Marsh Harrier hunts over the fields and reed beds.
Heronry at Court Lodge Farm
£2.50 Square card (14.5 cm x 14.5 cm) with a 5mm white border around image.
Herons have nested at Court Lodge Farm for generations. There are now 12 pairs occupying the heronry. This collage was a delight to make. I loved recreating the soft colours and patterning of the stately heron using snippets of cut paper.
Victoria and Yellow wagtails, Court Lodge Farm
£2.50 Square card (14.5 cm x 14.5 cm) with a 5mm white border around image.
Victoria is the matriarch of the Ayrshire cows in the herd. Here Yellow Wagtails are feeding on the insects disturbed by her feet. The grazed pasture is a favoured foraging habitat for these summer visitors from sub-Saharan Africa. My mixed media illustration shows them feeding up in autumn just before making their journey home.
Winter Landrover
£3.00 Rectangular card (14.5 cm x 20.5 cm)
This wood and linocut print depicts my parents’ trusty old Landrover hurtling along the country lanes with various family dogs along for the ride. Beep beep! Watch that pheasant!
